Inspire with ideas from the most popular DIY platform.

Pinterest is an atypical social network, and as such, it doesn’t have to compete with Facebook, Snapchat, and others. Due to its slow, yet constant growth, Pinterest created Pinterest 100, which helps users see what’s going to be in focus in the upcoming months and years. 320 million people use Pinterest, looking for inspiration, DIY projects, everything from beauty to travel. This year’s trends are focused on global issues more than ever, so they aren’t just reserved for 2020; this is more like the Pinterest for the new decade. So, let’s see which trends are growing and what is it that people want to know and learn.

Gender-neutral names, parties, looks, and outfits are getting more attention since 59% of Gen Zers expect to see gender-neutral options in everyday life. While Boomers aren’t precisely understanding, Millenials are open to going beyond Non-Binary, and that’s one of the most significant issues in the upcoming years.

Low-waste living, eco-friendly habits, and conscious consumption are terms we’ll be seeing even more, and no one needs an explanation of why. Pinterest allows users to browse among topics such as turning ocean waste into art, low-waste weddings, product swaps; in short, everything that could help to save the planet.

We know that wellness no longer means spas and luxurious weekends away. Today, wellness is about everyday habits to counter anxiety, stress, and burnout. From self-discovery to single living, Pinterest users are getting focused on their mental health. One of the most popular is art therapy, followed by feng shui décor and playlists that will boost your mood.

Pets and gardens are considered a necessity. That’s no surprise since both are proven to stress relieves, as well as our connection to nature. Pets are teaching us about compassion, while plants are making our living spaces cleaner. Mini gardens and homemade meals from your little slice of veggies and fruits are part of learning to appreciate our bodies, as well as minds.

On the one hand, Pinterest users are looking forward to spending time in nature, going back to our roots. On the other, everything related to space tourism is the perfect topic for children, as well as adults. It seems like no one likes the 2020s since the 90s are the most talked-about decade. Understandable, it was the last time people on the planet felt safe.

Pinterest trends were very much about what’s in and what’s out. Now, we have a clearer picture of what people are thinking and feeling. Though this shift is exciting, it’s just as scary. But at least it sounds like an awakening, and that’s a positive change.
