Easy to make lotion bars
Beauty products can often be pricey and can contain a lot of ingredients including fragrance that might be harsh for sensative skin. One of the best means to get great beauty products is to make them at home, here is an easy tutorial on making lotion bars including different scents.
Ingredients by Scent
Fragrance-Free For Sensative Skin
– 1/3 cup Beeswax
– 1/3 cup Coconut Oil
– 1/3 cup Cocoa, Shea, or Mango Butter
Lavender
– 10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
– 1/3 cup Coconut Oil
– 1/3 cup Beeswax
– 1/3 cup of Cocoa, Shea, or Mango Butter
– (Optional) 1 tbsp Dried Lavender Sachets
Chocolate Chai Tea
– 1 tsp Nutmeg
– 1/3 cup Coconut Oil
– 1.5 tsp Cinnamon
– 1/3 cup Cocoa Butter
– 1/3 cup Beeswax
Rose (No Beeswax Lotion Bar)
– 10 drops Rose Water
– 1/3 cup Shea Butter
– 1/3 cup Almond Meal
– 1/3 cup Cocoa Butter
Peppermint
– 10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
– 1/3 cup Coconut Oil
– 1/3 cup Beeswax
– 1/3 cup Cocoa, Shea, or Mango Butter
– (Optional) 1 tsp Matcha
Instructions:
1. Fill a medium-size pot with a few inches of water and place a ceramic or glass bowl in the center of the pot.
2. Place stovetop setting on medium to high heat, bringing water to a simmer.
3. Add all the ingredients (except essential oil) to the bowl.
4. Let the mixture melt and stir to combine ingredients.
5. Once ingredients are completely melted and mixed, remove the bowl from the pot and mix in essential oils.
6. Pour the mixture into your mold of choice (silicone is recommended for easy removal).
7. Set aside to cool, for faster cooling time place in the fridge.
8. Store in a cool dry area in an airtight container.
Lotions bars make for a great gift and are also good for travel. To use just rub in your hands and let the heat lightly loosen the lotion bar then apply to dry skin areas.
