Watch out for these beauty habits

The saying “beauty is pain” may be more literal than you thought. The beauty routine you swore by in years past could now be the worst thing you could do for yourself. So, here are a few beauty habits you should stop doing.

After a stressful day, ending your day with a hot shower. Sadly, experts say hot water is terrible for your skin and you might want to think twice before stepping into that scalding hot shower or bath. “Hot water mixed with harsh soaps can strip your skin of its essential oils, leaving it feeling tight, dry, and itchy,” dermatologist Dr. Marnie Nussbaum said.

Try taking lukewarm showers to avoid future skin problems. Another way to avoid skin issues due to your shower over-washing should also not be done. According to Dr. Nussbaum, over-washing or exfoliating too much can cause dryness in your skin, acne, irritation, and inflammation.

Anyone who has gotten a manicure knows that cutting cuticles is one of the many steps to getting the nails you want. However, writer Stephanie Chon revealed that cuticles are the seal between the skin around your nails and the nails themselves. That means when you cut them you are opening little doors where harmful bacteria could enter.
