Winter is here and that means so is the dreaded winter travel.

For most of you that are lucky enough to drive, it may not be that big of an ordeal for you. But for the rest of us that have to jump on a plane to get to our loved ones, the pain is real.

Holiday travel should be jolly and fun. After all, it is the happiest time of the year. But between the overcrowded flights, the long lines at security and the thousands of other people upset and frustrated about their trip, it can be a very taxing journey. On top of that, when you do finally get to your destination, the jet lag kicks in and only adds to the torment that is holiday travel. But don’t fret, we may have found a way to beat jet lag. You still have to deal with your family on the other end, but y’know, one problem at a time.

Jet lag is described as extreme physical exhaustion and overall sluggishness from travel across multiple time zones. While there is no known cure for jet lag, there are a few things that you can do to help minimize the effects that you may feel from cross-timezone travel. According to the CEO of KLM airlines, who takes over 60 flights a year, the key to beating jet lag is to bring your running shoes.

That’s right, going for a run or a walk in your new time zone can actually help your body adapt to the new schedule. Additionally, if you can do it in the morning, it can reset your internal clock and get you acclimated faster to your new timezone. Whether or not this actually works, at least it gets you out and moving. Besides, it’s a good opportunity to see your new location as well as take in some of the sights.
