Make every minute count.

Time is precious, and devoting it to workout, at the gym or home, is great for your body and mind. However, there are some things you need to know to make the most out of every type of exercise. It all starts with setting goals.

What do you want to achieve? Are you looking for an escape from everyday stress? Do you want to lose weight? Are you a team player, or you prefer to be on your own? Once you determine what type of exercise you want and whether you want solo or team sessions, you’re one step closer to achieving the goal.

Being in the right mindset is extremely important to get the most out of your workout plan. Your goal might be to lose weight, but you should be getting so much more from exercising. Focus on your goal, but keep in mind the bigger picture – better sleep, overall health, and improved mood.

Rethink your diet. Make sure to include veggies as well as proteins to have enough strength for the workout. Otherwise, you’re damaging your health. If you have any kind of medical issues, talk to your doctor and then with your trainer. If you are unsure about your diet, pay a visit to a nutritionist. Keeping a food diary might help you discover what’s missing and why you aren’t getting closer to your goals.

A common mistake is that many start with so much enthusiasm that they get burn out syndrome, which is what we want to avoid. You don’t need to hit the gym every day. In fact, going to the gym two or three times a week for 45 to 55 minutes is just enough. You aren’t preparing for the Olympics, not to mention that your body needs rest, especially if you weren’t always athletic, and you’re still learning to listen to your body.
