Studies say eating eggs regularly could result in heart problems

Everyone knows breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, what the experts didn’t tell you is that if eggs are included in your everyday meal you could be at risk for heart disease.

A new study has discovered that adults who ate about one and a half eggs a day had a slightly higher risk of heart disease than those who ate no eggs. The study also showed that the more eggs were consumed, the greater the risk.

The reason behind the increase is because of the cholesterol found in egg yolks and other foods, like dairy, red meat and shellfish. “When we eat cholesterol, it’s broken down in the gut; it’s not absorbed as a whole cholesterol molecule,” said Dr. Peter Schulman, a cardiologist.

“Eggs raise the HDL to a greater extent than it does the LDL, which leads to a more favorable risk profile when it comes to cardiovascular risk.”

Don’t throw your eggs away just yet, because there are some inconsistencies when it comes to the data. Seeing as how most of the findings were given based on the subject’s recall it’s hard to confirm those details. Also whether the egg was poached, hard-boiled, scrambled, etc. are also unknown.
