Spain’s sustainable fashion capitol
Sustainable fashion, both the wearing and the creating of it, is all the rage lately. From local companies to the global fashion industry, many fashion designers are taking the message of sustainable fashion into their own hands and joining the cause.
Barcelona is rising to fame in the sustainable fashion world and is hosting some of the most exclusive runway shows. And while each of the designers created beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces for their collections, it was the sustainable fashion designers who truly dominated the catwalk during this show.
Barcelona’s most recent fashion event was the annual 080 Barcelona Fashion event and the designers who made sustainable fashion a priority spoke out in regards to their collections. One such designer was Sonia Carrasco, who believes sustainable fashion is a must in this day and age.
Even the name of her collection was related to sustainability, having chosen the coordinates of the Pacific “island” of plastic trash. She is one of many designers who have made a huge, much-needed change in the fashion industry all across the globe.
