You’ve been storing your eggs the wrong way…

There have been debates for many years over what you should or should keep in your fridge and eggs have been a food that’s up for debate. However, if keeping your eggs in the fridge is something you just find yourself doing, don’t put them in the door.

Vlatka Lake from Space Station says that the worst place to put eggs is in the plastic egg rack that is either built in, or comes as an insert with fridges. By placing the eggs in the door of the fridge they will be subjected to a series of sudden temperature changes as the door opens and closes, and that makes them go rotten quicker than if they were kept at just one temperature.

“When it comes to eggs, there is a huge debate on where they should be kept, with some saying in the fridge and others saying on the counter,” Lake told The Sun.

Lake isn’t the only one with this suggestion, but Good Housekeeping also warns against storing eggs in the door. “‘Eggs are at their best when stored at a consistent temperature, so we recommend keeping them in the fridge on the middle shelf,” said Sara Benwell, Consumer Editor for Good Housekeeping.
