Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are friendly exes. The moment people saw him at her holiday party, the Internet once again started talking about the exes getting back together. The question is: would you go back to a cheater? And even more, it wasn’t just the cheating; it was public, messy, and humiliating. Let’s retrace the steps before we go back to cheering for these two.
Brad Pitt married Jennifer Aniston in 2000. The actors were Hollywood’s golden couple, and it seemed like they were about to take over the world. But, since this wasn’t a rom-com, the ending came rather quickly, just five years later. Pitt met Angelina Jolie, and the exes share six children. It’s no secret that Aniston used her friends to throw shade, mostly on Jolie, though Pitt was the one who broke the vows. Despite that, can we really blame someone who got hurt in such a poor manner?
Fifteen years later, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor is divorced from Jolie. Aniston remarried and divorced. This time it was less public because Aniston’s and Justin Theroux’s divorce was much more civilized than many others in Hollywood. Either way, Aniston had several serious relationships, and she’s one of the most beloved actresses due to unproblematic nature. On the other side, Brad Pitt’s divorce from Jolie was made in tabloid paradise. The two used all PR techniques known to man to make the other one look like the worst person alive and we will never know the whole truth, similarly to Johnny Depp’s and Amber Heard’s relationship. In both cases, we’ll never hear the end of it.
Pitt admitted to having alcohol issues, and despite that, he’s still very much a desirable guy. But it sounds like he doesn’t need a relationship, especially with someone from Hollywood. Or with an ex-wife. On the other hand, the star of The Morning Show deserves more, since she does have an excellent reputation for a Hollywood celebrity. No one says she deserves better, we aren’t that close to her, but she’s grounded enough to deserve more than becoming a plot in the Brangelina saga. She lived that life already and moved on.
And if that’s not enough for the hardcore fans of the couple, a source told Us Weekly they are friends, and there’s nothing romantic going on. Technically, this proves nothing, but can we all agree that it’s time to let go of this fantasy that Pitt and Aniston are a match made in heaven?
