Donuts are making a blazing comeback!

After years and years of plain and boring glazed donuts, the donut market has begun to explode with treats of all shapes and sizes. It seems like everyone is trying to jump on the donut train to create some of the most most unique creations possible. One retired firefighter is throwing his helmet in the ring by creating some of the best donuts in Houston.

Raymond Pena isn’t new to the donut game. In fact, it’s in his blood. His grandmother owned a donut shop that he used to work in as a child. His tenure at the donut shop took a pause while he pursued a career as a firefighter. He didn’t quite give up on his donut dreams, however, and opened a restaurant while he was still fighting fires. But after life became busy and firefighting took all of his free time, Pena ended up selling his shop. He would do this two more times before he would finally retire from a long and decorated career,

Once he retired, it was game on. He jumped back into his passion and opened up Pena’s Donuts and Diner. His restaurant is a combination of the donut shop recipes from his grandmother, and the food from his father’s diner growing up. Today, Pena’s Donuts and Diner makes some of the tastiest and most creative donuts in all of Texas.

Bacon donuts, Lucky Charms donuts, and even Halloween Jason donuts can all be found at Pena’s at any given day. This shop has even developed a bit of a cult following. People come from all over to get a taste of some of the delicious treats or classic diner food that has made his place famous. So if you find yourself in the Houston area and are hungry for something sweet, I recommend you check out Pena’s Donuts and Diner.
