Making small changes for a more eco-friendly future

What started as a casual conversation at a party is now a campaign to combat climate change thanks to Cara Delevingne and the founders of the systems-change initiative, Advaya, Christabel and Ruby Reed. Delevingne wanted to know what she could do to help spread awareness for climate change and how she could change for the better of the environment.

Christabel and Ruby explained their mission with Advaya as building a community of change-makers focusing on what is troubling the world including the mental health crisis, the economy, and the environment. Advaya works to raise awareness, empowering action, creating a community, improving wellbeing, and celebrating life, much like the Eco Resolution campaign.

The Eco Resolution campaign focuses on changing negative environmental impact through people making a conscious effort to make small changes and each month they will focus on teaching different topics starting with Food in February. Delevingne says that our governments aren’t acting with the urgency that science demands, calling for systemic change from the top to the bottom.

She goes onto say that history shows us that the government only starts changing when people take action and calls on people to start that change. The campaign devised a cycle to promote spreading awareness on climate change – learning, digesting, pledging, acting, sharing, and leading.

Delevingne’s Eco Resolution is creating this campaign to empower people worldwide to start educating others to raise awareness in the hope of others to take action against climate change. She goes onto say that the population doesn’t want to face these issues as we caused this problem but encourages others that they can be apart of the solution.

Delevingne isn’t the only celebrity to promote the new campaign with more celebrities sharing their Eco Resolutions on the @MyEcoResolution Twitter page.

Jack Black wants to commit to stop eating red meat and Jai Courtney wants to be more consciously aware of his carbon footprint on a daily basis. Priyanka Chopra Jonas says, “if we can’t make the big differences, at least do the small ones because they count, they really, really count.”

Model Karlie Kloss wants to continue working with small companies that are evolving to be more sustainable and Rita Ora commits to avoid using plastic products. Jaden Smith wants to start working with companies who are building sustainable houses for people who need them and his sister Willow wants to support the message of humans coming together to heal the planet.
