Awkwafina finds her way through her “awkward” phase with grace

In the age of technology and instant communications at our fingertips and available to all, sometimes it can all be too much. Having hundreds or thousands of people prying into your personal life can make things difficult and for some, can even cause mental disorders and other problems that didn’t exist 20 years ago.

Social media is everywhere. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter — everyone uses at least one of these platforms and knows at least five others that can say the same. Social media is great for keeping up with loved ones and friends, but can also attract unwanted attention and comments and other additional pressures from society that can sometimes outweigh the good. For Awkwafina, social media caused social distress that began to affect her day to day life.

Nora Lum, AKA Awkwafina, is a rapper and actress known for her roles in such movies as Ocean’s 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. But what people may not know about her from seeing her badass characters in movies is that Awkwafina struggles with self-confidence and anxiety.

The cause- social media. The hurtful comments and the constant judging made it difficult for her to find her confidence both on and off-screen.
