After Prada x Adidas, It’s Time for Dior x Nike

Prada and Adidas officially announced a partnership last week.

The limited-edition Prada for Adidas shoe styles for men and women are coming to market in December. Rumor has it that we will get to see a Dior x Nike collaboration in June 2020.

The news broke on Twitter, but this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of it. Previously, the same collaboration was announced in 2017, but that turned out to be a joke. At the time, Dior menswear creative director Kris Van Assche posted and deleted an Instagram image showing the brands’ logos combined. Of course, it went viral, but this time it seems less plausible.

Virgil Abloh of Off-White has an ongoing partnership with Nike, and the team created one of the most famous pairs of sneakers in 2017. As for Dior and Nike, according to internet rumors, there will only be 1000 pairs of sneakers, and the retail price will be whooping $2,000.

While we are patiently waiting to see if Nike Air Jordan 1 will get a Dior makeover, both companies are staying quiet. For Prada, Adidas collaboration is historical. Italian fashion house never did anything similar. A nearly all-white, clean-looking take on the iconic Superstar sneaker is getting raving reviews. The price is still a mystery, though it will be high since the collection only has 700 pairs. But at least they look timeless and will go magnificently with every spring outfit. It’s going to be interesting to see which celebrities will be the first ones to take a stroll in new and improved Superstar sneakers, with a white carryall from the same collection.

Sneakers entered the world of high fashion back in 2012, thanks to Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel. Though it seemed like a trend which will last a season or two, here we are, talking about famous sneakers in (almost) 2020.
