They won’t get married any time soon!

Gwen Stefani started dating Blake Shelton four years ago. Every now and then we hear they are engaged or secretly married, but that still hasn’t happened. While Stefani and Shelton are fine, they won’t get married until her first marriage is annulled.

So why is this such a big deal? Well, for starters, Stefani has three kids with her ex, Gavin Rossdale. Here’s what People‘s sources had to say: “Blake was very serious about Gwen right from the start, and early on he thought about proposing,” says a Stefani insider. But the former No Doubt rocker, who is a practicing Roman Catholic, hopes to have a church ceremony with the country star. The Roman Catholic Church does not allow remarriage after a divorce unless the earlier marriage is annulled, which can be a lengthy process, and the Stefani insider confirms a church ceremony “isn’t possible currently.” Gwen Stefani has three sons, Kingston, 13, Zuma, 11, and Apollo, 5. While annulment won’t make a difference to her, it might to her sons, who are also being raised by the Catholic Church rules.

With or without wedding bells, the couple has an upcoming single, Nobody But You.  It will be part of Blake Shelton’s album Fully Loaded: God’s Country. The Voice coaches clearly adore each other, and the country singer even said that Stefani made him a better man. Shelton spoke to ET,  saying “I don’t want to remember what I was like before Gwen, actually.” Stefani gushed in the same interview that “Blake saved [her] life, everybody knows that.”
