Just over a year since his tragic death, family, friends, and fans are finally getting answers

As the one year anniversary of the early departed Mac Miller passes, fans and family members start to feel a glimpse of justice surrounding the speculated cause of death. When news broke in 2018 that the famous rapper-singer had passed of an overdose, a push for further investigation took over the internet,

Malcolm McCormick, affectionately known as Mac Miller, died in 2018 at the age of 26 from an accidental overdose. It was revealed by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner that his death came from a lethal combination of cocaine, alcohol, and fentanyl, which gave the indication that Millers’ substances may have been laced.

The star spoke openly about his struggles with addiction, drug and alcohol abuse, and battles with mental health. He spoke in a documentary Stopped Making Excuses about the matter, saying that going down from an overdose wasn’t “legendary” and that “you can’t go down in history because you overdosed”. His strong commitment to getting better was further indication that his overdose was accidental.

Now, a year later, Cameron James Pettit has been prosecuted in relation to Miller’s death. Pettit is being charged with providing the artist with counterfeit oxycodone. The pills were mixed with fentanyl, an incredibly dangerous substance, especially in combination of other substances.
