With maturity comes beauty
At 67 years old, JoAni Johnson has just become the newest face of Rihanna’s new luxury fashion line, FENTY.
Rihanna’s line has been in the news quite a bit lately, for everything from its beauty and fashion brands to the endless praise over Rihanna’s efforts at inclusivity. And she’s taking that one step further this time, choosing JoAni Johnson as the newest face of her luxury line with French company LVMH.
JoAni is a first-generation Jamaican American whose modeling career first took off in 2016 after her husband convinced her to pose for a street photographer in NYC. Not long after, she was the star of a video created by Allure that quickly went viral.
In the promo video, JoAni highlighted the beauty of aging, as well as celebrating gray hair. In the video, JoAni discussed that some people don’t have the privilege to age, something she doesn’t take for granted.
Not longer after JoAni went viral, her husband passed away, in 2017. She continued modeling because she felt it gave her a sense of purpose and was something her husband would have loved for her to continue doing.
