Mediterranean Diet Named The Best For 2020

Best Diet for Healthy Eating, Easiest Diets to Follow, Best Diets for Diabetes, and Best Plant-Based Diets!

In 2020, for the third year in a row, the Mediterranean diet has been named the best. It’s most likely because it’s not a diet as much as a lifestyle. According to the U.S. News & World Report, this lifestyle plus physical activity have a long list of health benefits, including weight control, heart, and brain health, cancer prevention, and diabetes prevention.

The Mediterranean diet also took the top place in the four different categories in the report: Best Diet for Healthy Eating, Easiest Diets to Follow, Best Diets for Diabetes, Best Plant-Based Diets.

The DASH Diet and Flexitarian Diet share second place. The DASH diet promotes healthy blood pressure and consists of lots of veggies, whole grains, lean protein, and low-fat dairy. The Flexitarian Diet is about eating as much of a vegetarian diet as possible with some meat allowed. Again, this isn’t a diet as much as meat reduction. It is healthy for you, as well as for the planet.

In the Best Weight Loss Diet category, it was Weight Watchers that claimed the top place, with a vegan diet following in second place. However, one of the most popular diets, the Keto diet, is among the worst-rated.

Dukan, Keto, and Whole30 are at the bottom of the list. They are either too restrictive or only short term effects. The list is made by nutritionists and doctors specializing in diabetes, heart health, and weight loss. They recognized weight loss as well as effectiveness at preventing diseases, noting that diets are not one size fits all.
