By I have a friend who is crazy into poi spinning. He’s not into things being on fire, so he just uses light-up ones. Even so, the crazy spinning patterns he produces he when he does it at night are truly a sight to behold.
Poi spinning, torch spinning, juggling, and fire-eating are probably some of the most extreme forms of showmanship, and they’ve been around since the early eras of civilization. There’s a certain mystique to a guy swinging a big flaming stick a foot away from his head, and people are always eager to watch.
Frederick Horal is one such daredevil who combined his passion for dance and appreciation of pyrotechnics into a professional showman career. As the owner of Four Leaf Entertainment, Horal brings his personal brand of spicy groove to whoever wants to see it (which, as it turns out, is quite a lot of people). Starting with normal poi, he moved on to flaming poi, staves, torch juggling, and fire eating and breathing. With his hands and flames as his tools, Horal is bringing a little bit of wonder back into the world, one blaze at a time. Maybe I should tell my poi friend about him…
