Women embracing the natural look

One of the most talked-about beauty trends is makeup. “Go for the all-natural look.” “Less makeup, the better.” With the body positivity movement in full swing, many people are embracing their natural selves. But what is natural?

The body positivity movement is about being happy and confident in yourself; breaking down social stigmas and rejecting the perception that social media and social forces on people. So with all of the positivity and self-love going around, why is there a beauty stigma against using makeup?

For some, their natural selves could be with makeup on. Makeup is a form of self-expression and to some, even an art. People say makeup hides your true self, or that people who wear makeup are less intelligent and ditzy compared to their makeup-less peers.

But putting on makeup is no different than any other accessory that you wear or anything else that makes you feel happy and confident in yourself. People shouldn’t bring people down for their self-expression nor should people allow the judgment of others to rob them of what makes them happy. And really, in the end, isn’t that what it’s all about?
