In this day and age, time together as a family is definitely at a premium.

I’m talking quality time together, not spending time together in the same room while everyone is on their phone or computer. Here are a few reasons that you should bring back the family dinner.

Not since the time of “Leave it To Beaver” have families all sat down around the table to break bread. But this ancient tradition doesn’t have to be something of TV novelty, you can bring it back to your family table and also help to strengthen your family as well.

Studies have shown that eating together has multiple benefits. One of the biggest benefits is healthy food choices. If left to their own devices, kids will always choose something less than optimal to eat. Eating together as a family guides their meal choices and can help develop healthy habits early.

Another added benefit of big family meals is that the parent/child relationship is strengthened and the higher level of involvement by the parents leads to better grades and decreased use of drugs and alcohol.
